How to Navigate Triggers That Arise on the Road to Sacred Union
The journey to sacred union can be a heart-opening, expansive and beautiful experience - but it can be equally heart-breaking, triggering and painful. The purpose of a divine union with an external counterpart is to come into sovereign and also unconditionally loving connection with another human being, which means that in the process of coming together - and throughout the stages of relating and deepening the bond - anything internally that is blocking or in contradiction to either of these things, will be up for review. Literally every single inner child wound, past life trauma, attachment style, belief system and behavioural pattern that is not serving or is keeping you in separation from others, preventing you from fully loving and accepting yourself, or perpetuates co-dependency or unhealthy relationship pattern will be cleared in the process.
Karma: It’s Probably Not What You Think
The concept of karma is often misunderstood and misinterpreted by most people who use the comforting potential of spiritual vengeance to help them to feel better when another human does something shitty to them (‘ohhh, don’t you worry, Susan - you may have taken my parking spot, but you’ll get what’s coming to you’). The karma you have previously accrued plays heavily into the things that show up in your life, and the obstacles you will have to overcome in order to fulfil your soul’s purpose. Karma is not cosmic punishment for the ‘wrongdoings’ you have made, it is a choice that our souls make and continue to make based upon the desire to have the full spectrum of experiences.
A Reason, A Season, or a Lifetime? Soulmates, Karmics and the Twin Flame
You are destined to play out certain dynamics and unfulfilled karma with particular souls - soul mates, karmic relationships and the elusive ‘twin flame’. No matter which dynamic it is, there is a sense of true love - an unshakable bond, instant connection, magnetic pull, a feeling of familiarity - within these connections which is intoxicating and also incredibly confronting if you’ve never experienced this deep love before. It can also be the cause of some incredibly toxic behavior rearing its ugly head (particularly in karmic relationships, where your only goal is to learn the lesson and release yourself from the toxic behaviour, and thus, end the contract). You might feel yourself questioning your sanity as to how you can feel this way about someone you just met. You might feel as though you’ll never love like this again (spoiler alert, you can and you most likely will). You might find yourself planning your future wedding, fantasising about your entire lives together or picking out baby names. And for some of these connections, that might be a reality. In truth, you never know whether someone is a karmic, a soulmate, or your twin - if they are here for a reason, a season or a lifetime - until you’re already too deep and too involved to tell the difference.
Reincarnation, Past Lives & Understanding the Choice to Incarnate Again on Earth
Uncovering and unpacking or remembering our past lives comes at a point in our journey where we are ready for the exploration of what our karmic cycles and patterns are in this lifetime, and also ready for the recognition of our eternal nature. They are access points in which we can determine what patterns, shadows - and also our strengths, gifts - we are destined to face.
The primary function of experiencing or remembering our past lives is to have an access point into the karmic cycles, patterns and traumas which exist here and now for us that we have the potential clear. Learning about past lives gives you an indication of the experiences you have chosen to have in previous incarnations, thus giving rise to some understanding of what you might have chosen to experience in this lifetime.
Understanding True Love: What True Love is and What it is Not
True love is like a freight train. It doesn’t sneak up on you subtly, or grow slowly as most people like to tell you.
It knocks you over with full force – streaming and howling into your life with no notice, no warning and no preparation for the upheaval your life is about to experience.
There is an intensity about it that you cannot avoid or ignore (even if you attempt to stay in denial or brush it off as just a little crush), and you cannot run from it.
True love is finding the ability within yourself to love again after countless heartbreaks, and after vowing to yourself that you’ll never love like this again. In fact, it is only through the countless heartbreaks (the brushing yourself off and picking yourself up after hours, days, weeks spent in the bathtub listening to Bon Iver and crying into your glass of red wine), that true love is able to appear.
When your heart is mature enough, it has experienced enough of the contrast to recognise and appreciate true love when it finally appears.
