Karma: It’s Probably Not What You Think

The following is an excerpt from my book (still in the editing phase):
You Chose This: The journey to soul rememberinga channeled initiation and guidebook for spiritual awakening in the New Earth

The concept of karma is often misunderstood and misinterpreted by most people who use the comforting potential of spiritual vengeance to help them to feel better when another human does something shitty to them (‘ohhh, don’t you worry, Susan - you may have taken my parking spot, but you’ll get what’s coming to you’). The karma you have previously accrued plays heavily into the things that show up in your life, and the obstacles you will have to overcome in order to fulfil your soul’s purpose. Karma is not cosmic punishment for the ‘wrongdoings’ you have made, it is a choice that our souls make and continue to make based upon the desire to have the full spectrum of experiences.

In order to understand karma, you need to understand that the concept of ‘good’ and ‘bad’ is an illusion brought upon by your own human judgement - that everything is necessary and a creation of God and there is no good or bad, there just ‘is’.

It is all tied into an understanding of neutrality - the middle ground of nothingness, and all-ness. Yes, I just made up a word.... but it’s my illusion, and I’ll do what I wanna do.
The fabric of the universe relies on maintaining a balance between polarities and desiring to reach a point of homeostasis or neutrality within itself. Negativity must be balanced by its equal and opposite positivity. ‘Good’ must be balanced by its equal and opposite ‘bad’.

Every vibration requires an opportunity to be brought back to neutrality.

Every being requires an opportunity to experience the exact opposite of the polarity it has already experienced.

Karma isn’t as simple as not tipping your waiter and as a result winding up bankrupt five years later. Although, the concept of ‘what goes around, comes around’ holds a certain truth to it, as we attract what we are putting out, what we are believing and being into the Universe. Karma is the cosmic ripple, the cause-and-effect, that your actions, thoughts and behaviours have on the frequency of the Universe, of all living beings that reside within it. Every action, every event has a certain frequency that ripples out and creates a dent into the collective consciousness - a fragmentation away from neutrality. Thus, if you have put out some ‘negative’ karma in the world - if you have been responsible for mass genocide, burning down entire villages just for the lols, bringing about the falling of Atlantis or have cheated on a long line of lovers - you will, in this life, have the opportunity to re-balance that karmic imbalance that you caused. This is what ‘karmic’ debt is. It is not that you will be punished in this life for choosing to kill people in a past life, or cheat on your spouse. It is that you, as a soul, have the opportunity to experience something different and change your soul’s trajectory - to grow and evolve.

It is not because a soul is ‘evil’ that it chooses to murder, or manipulate others, or steal, or lie, or cheat, or impose suffering on another (remember, evil doesn’t exist past a certain level of consciousness). A soul commits those acts because simply, that’s where it is in its evolution process. Once you have evolved to a certain level of consciousness, there is no desire to commit acts or crimes against humanity because you understand that we are all one - that the suffering you cause others will ultimately be experienced by you. You remember that we are not separate, that we are all connected, you simply do not desire to hurt others. This is what the principle offered in the Bible, ‘do unto others as you would have them do unto you’ alludes to.

As your soul evolves, it gains the understanding that every desire, thought and act you play out affects the collective consciousness. Rather than acting as a single ‘separate’ entity for the purpose of its own self preservation and protection or in order to gain power or wealth at the expense of others, your desires begin to factor in a recognition of unity consciousness and the greater good. That is not to say you can’t have power, wealth, fame, success or anything else you desire in this lifetime. Once your soul has evolved to the point that it recognises it is connected to everyone and everything, it finds ways to achieve these things in harmony and service to others - where everyone can be a winner. It is becoming famous with the intention of being able to reach and help more people. It is becoming wealthy so that you may give more and share that wealth with those less fortunate. It is becoming powerful so that you may guide others how they can become powerful, too. It desires to attain these things for the greater good of all, rather than in an act of self service based in fostering more separation. If you have chosen to walk the path of service to self and separation in the past (and believe me, if you’re reading this book, you undoubtedly have) that does not make you evil, nor does it make your soul ‘inherently bad’. However, it may mean that you have come into this life with some self imposed karmic guilt to clear - some self forgiveness to practice that will ultimately allow you to re-polarise towards unity consciousness.

For instance, I discovered recently that my (ancient alien) soul chose - in many incarnations, whoopsie - to misuse its spiritual wisdom and power at the detriment to others. It used this knowledge that it had for personal gain, to control and manipulate other humans. Damn you, ancient alien Bec (I never liked her anyway). As a result, in this life I had this underlying guilt around deserving God’s healing and unconditional love that I had to work through. I felt that I was unworthy of this grace - and was unable to break through cycles of self-imposed suffering, unable to attract love from another, unable to truly love myself - because of what my soul had done in many lifetimes. I believed I truly deserved to suffer and so did not let myself experience miraculous healing, assistance or the ending of the incessant purging cycles that I was going through (what a selfish piece of shit I was for doing all of that! No wonder why I couldn’t attract the abundance or the loving partner I desired - I wasn’t worthy!)

Remember, God doesn’t keep score or desire to punish anyone. In God’s eyes, everything I did was perfect and was all leading back to love. It wasn’t God who was withholding love or success or anything else from me. It was my soul who was choosing to remember these experiences and bring suffering upon myself as a result. With the desire to evolve past this guilt and choose differently in this lifetime.
It was only through forgiving myself for what I had done in these lifetimes - truly forgiving myself, and it’s not nearly as easy as it sounds - feeling the weight of it all and accepting that, yes, I had done some pretty horrific things in my time but that didn’t make me a ‘bad’ person, that I was able to free myself. While God’s grace and forgiveness was able to be felt and attained eventually through the process of my own self-forgiveness and acceptance, I still have the karmic debt to repay - or rather, the desire to experience the opposite.
The opposite of service to self and abusing your spiritual gifts for personal gain is unconditional acts of service to others and willingly using your gifts to spread love into the world. Thus, I have the opportunity in this life to experience using my gifts for good, to help others, and correct this self- imposed karmic guilt. I have the opportunity to experience the opposite to what I’ve already experienced. And believe me when I say, I fully intend on taking this opportunity and ‘paying that debt’ because - knowing what I now know about karma - I’m not about to cause some more negative ripples of internalised guilt out there for some future incarnation to deal with (eat shit and die, Future Bec).

Karma goes both ways - if your soul has experienced atrocities done to it at the hands of another, not only will you have an opportunity to have the opposite (positive) experience, but the soul that has done these atrocities to you will have the opportunity to rebalance that karmic debt, perhaps making it up to you in this lifetime, or by experiencing what it is like to be on the receiving end of that atrocity from someone else. Not as an act of punishment bestowed by God, but rather as a soul’s desire to experience every equal opposite. At some point or another, that soul will have the opportunity to decide to experience the opposite of whatever it has experienced previously in order to grow and evolve.

So perhaps, if you are wondering, that deadbeat ex of yours is going to have to pay for throwing your ass out to the curb and shacking up with your best friend. Susan may suffer for taking your parking spot. And perhaps that moment will not come today, or tomorrow, or even in this lifetime, but if those souls have decided that they are guilty or that they deserve to suffer for what they have done, they will eventually cause themselves suffering. It’s not some external ‘karmic retribution’ for what they have done to you, but rather their own internalised guilt which causes them to inflict suffering on themselves in the future.

For those of you who are disappointed to learn that you may never have the opportunity to experience your desired vengeance in this life, know that your desire for vengeance is only going to cause you to inflict suffering on yourself via your guilty conscience. You cannot choose suffering for another if they do not choose it for themselves, or if they do not have a guilty conscience for what they have done. That’s to say, you cannot make somebody else choose a specific reaction to the things you do to them. If the other person, for instance, has evolved to a point that they immediately choose love and forgiveness, nothing you do to them will bring you the feeling of vengeance you are seeking. Thus, only you can choose whether you allow yourself to continue to react to negative karmic cycles with another, just as only you can choose to walk away and be brought the experience of someone who treats you better in the future. It’s your karmic right... (Unless, of course, it was your actions in a previous life that attracted this experience to you, and in that case, the karma is now being balanced, congrats).

However, let’s avoid going down that path right now, at risk of sending our heads round in never- ending loops and cycles trying to understand the principles of karma in/karma out.
